MAJOR AIR DISASTERS: ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION AS A TOOL FOR DEFINING ERAS IN COMMERCIAL AVIATION SAFETY CULTURE

The air transport evolution has been littered with major disasters, the occurrence of which not only had negative effects inherent to any disaster. Air accident investigation provided a wealth knowledge that advanced aviation industry and its safety. International Civil Aviation Organization exercised international regulatory leadership since 1947, developing tools cooperation, such as methodology. ICAO forged change in perspective on safety attributions or factors different historical eras, using this methodology deepen understanding causes thereby achieve improvement. Authors aimed analyze, through detailed study world’s worst accidents, their contribution details culture. Beyond technical issues fatality rates, necessary analysis is what researchers have gained from beginning, exploring reports knowing diverse predominated eras. Descriptive analyzes disaster two objectives: identify beginnings global culture resulting operational relate eras investigations.
